The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings hockey team did its part to help out families this holiday season.
During their Christmas break, the squad lend a hand to associate coach Cody Reynolds, who owns Lakeside Hockey Development after they partnered up with the Sylvan Lake Hockey Camp.
Together they’ve teamed up to help children hone their hockey skills for Christmas at the fourth annual Hockey for a Clause Clinic.
The Kings, alongside the Sylvan Lake Wranglers, helped Reynolds run one-hour skill sessions for kids aged seven to 13.
The clinic benefitted families in Sylvan Lake because all 80 children who participated were asked to make a monetary donation or bring a toy for the Sylvan Lake Christmas Bureau.
“I am very proud of our guys for representing a great event so well,” Reynolds said. “The players really enjoy being out in the community and thrive on it. We always have tremendous support over the years and looking forward to hosting our fifth annual event next year.”
In total, they raised $1,200 in cash donations and received $500 worth of toys.
