RDP Queens and Kings extend winning streaks

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens basketball teams continued their lengthy winning streaks on Saturday.

At the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre the Queens took down The King’s University Eagles 63-56 for their ninth straight win. The Kings, who also played the Eagles, won by a large margin 116-83 for their sixth consecutive victory.

The Queens were led by three players in double figures including Jayden Demchuk who finished with 17 points shooting six for 12 from the field.

Peighton Melton had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Heena Sidhu added 15 points.

The Kings had six players scoring in double figures led by Tyrique Walters with 21 points off the bench followed by Bernando Moller with 20 points.

MacGregor Manyluk nearly had a double-double recording eight rebounds and 16 points. Deandre Rowe also had a big evening with 17 points.

Both the Kings and Queens will head to Olds College next Friday to take on the Broncos before a rematch on Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to close out the semester.
