Queens 3 Broncos 0

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens pitched their first shutout of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association season Saturday.

The Queens knocked off their Central Alberta rival Olds College Broncos 3-0 at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Queens’ goaltender Izzy Palumbo earned her first shutout of the season and made 10 saves in the effort.

After starting the season with three straight wins, the Queens dropped a game in NAIT last week.

Five minutes into the game, Queens defenceman Sarah Raymond opened the scoring off the pass from Haley Kicia. They added to their lead midway through the second period when forward Jailyn Bablitz fired one into the back of the net.

Less than a minute into the final frame, forward Brenna Reid sealed the deal for the Queens with an insurance goal early in the period.

Next Friday, Nov. 18 the Queens will head to Lakeland College for a matchup with the Rustlers at 7 p.m. They will then rematch the next day at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in Red Deer at 7 p.m.
