The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens have kept their undefeated season going at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Women’s Volleyball Championships.
In the opening match of the event in P.E.I., the Queens swept the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-16).
Veteran Queens middle McKenna Olson led the way with eight kills and a match-high five aces, along with one stuff block. Outside Hitter Tess Pearman chalked up 11 kills one ace and one block in the victory, while middle Sydney Rix also chipped in 10 kills. Rix was the player of the game for the Queens. Setter Emma Letkeman had 36 assists in the victory.

Queens outside hitter Anna Carlson was also named a CCAA all-Canadian ahead of the tournament. She had four kills in the win Friday.
The Queens will now advance to the national semi-final Saturday night when they take on the VIU Mariners. VIU has won three straight national titles and four of the last five. The game will be live streamed at 3 p.m. Saturday and can be watched at portal.stretchinternet.com/ccaasportsacsc/.
