The Red Deer Polytechnic women's curling team were crowned provincial champions on the weekend on home ice.
The top-ranked Queens won the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association title at the Pidherney Centre on Feb. 9. RDP earned gold with a 5-2 win over the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder, finishing the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record.
The RDP Kings earned silver at provincials, falling to SAIT in the gold-medal match. The Kings were 3-0 in round robin and beat the Trojans 5-4 in the 1/2 page playoff to earn a berth into the final. The Trojans beat NAIT 6-1 to earn the rematch with the Kings.
The RDP mixed curling team also earned silver at provincials. They were 3-0 in round robin and downed the Trojans 5-3 in the page 1/2 playoff to earn a berth into the final. In the final, the Thunder knocked off RDP to earn the gold medal.
RDP curling head coach Brad Hamilton, was also named ACAC Curling Coach of the Year over the weekend.

"In collaboration with assistant coaches Eldon Raab, Andrew Jones and Jaycee Bourke, Brad consistently recruits competitive Kings, Queens and Mixed Curling teams that seek excellence in the classroom, during competition and as ambassadors in the community."
Through Hamilton's leadership, all three RDP Curling teams ranked among the top squads at the 2024-2025 ACAC Curling Fall and Winter Regionals, qualifying for playoffs. After both regionals, the Kings (6-2) sat second in the Men's Division. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (8-2) finished in a tie for first with the SAIT Trojans (8-2). The RDP Mixed Curling team (5-3) placed second in its division.
