The RDP Queens are trending towards dynasty territory in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association track.
The Queens won their third straight ACAC title over the weekend in Edmonton.
In addition to the team medals, individual RDP student-athletes and relay teams earned three silver and four bronze medals. Sylvan Lake’s Zoey Longman and Lacombe’s Eiley Morrison, members of the Queens, were named to the ACAC Women’s Indoor Track All-Conference team. These accolades reinforce the impact of the coaches and the strength of the RDP Indoor Track program.
Kings coach Michael Schnare was named the ACAC Coach of the Year for his efforts this season, which included helping the Queens to gold and the Kings to bronze at provincials.
“I want to congratulate Michael on receiving this recognition,” says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life, Red Deer Polytechnic. “In his first year as coach of RDP’s Indoor Track and Cross Country Running program, Michael has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping the Kings and Queens succeed in the classroom, during competition and as mentors in the community.”
