The Red Deer Rebels have tied a franchise record after their 14th consecutive win to remain undefeated after they took down the Swift Current Broncos 4-1 on the road.

After a scoreless first period, the Rebels forward Kai Uchacz scored on the powerplay with 5:50 remaining in the second period to get Red Deer on the board.

Four minutes after that the Rebels took a 2-0 lead after defenceman Hunter Mayo hammered in his seventh goal of the year on the powerplay.

Before the end of the middle frame, the Broncos scored to bring themselves within one heading into the final period.

In the third period, Uchacz scored his team-leading 13th goal of the year and second of the game after he went around the Broncos defenceman in a one-on-one situation. Once around the defender, Uchacz beat the goalie on the far side of the net with a nasty backhand.

With seven minutes remaining in the game, forward Frantisek Formanek sealed the deal for the Rebels on a breakaway chance.

In his first game back in some time, goaltender Kyle Kelsey looked solid between the pipes and made 19 saves.

The Rebels will next head to Moose Jaw to take on the Warriors Saturday night at 7 p.m.
