The Red Deer Rebels lost their third straight game on Saturday night.

In their third game in four nights the Rebels were steamrolled by the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-3 on the road in Saskatchewan at Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The Rebels struck first in the opening period when rookie forward Jeramiah Roberts notched his third of the season just under three minutes into the game.

However, following that the Rebels gave up four straight goals through the second period to Martin Rysavy (2), Matthew Savoie, and Jagger Firkus.

Savoie came on the powerplay in the first period and Firkus’ was shorthanded in the second frame to lead 4-1.

In the third period, Rebels captain Kai Uchacz scored his 30th goal of the year to cut the lead in half early in the frame.

The Warriors added two more from Brayden Schuurman and Atley Calvert to put the game out of reach.

However, with just over a minute and a half to go, Rebels Carson Birnie potted the Rebels third of the game.

Red Deer finished just one for five on the powerplay but held the Warriors to one goal on three powerplay opportunities.

Warriors goaltender Jackson Unger made 23 saves in the victory.

Meanwhile, Rebels starting netminder Chase Wutzke was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 26 shots. He was replaced by Rhett Stoesser who made seven saves on nine shots.

With the loss, the Rebels are now in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 60 points. Despite the loss, Red Deer remains just two points behind the Medicine Hat Tigers for first in the Central Division.

The Rebels will be back in action on Sunday in Regina against the Pats at 3 p.m. Mountain time.
