Rebels crack Ice in OT

Colin Archer converted a Willie Coetzee rebound at 1:54 of overtime to give the Red Deer Rebels a 4-3 victory over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League play Saturday.

CRANBROOK — Colin Archer converted a Willie Coetzee rebound at 1:54 of overtime to give the Red Deer Rebels a 4-3 victory over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League play Saturday.

The Rebels led 3-2 after the second period, but Kevin King scored while shorthanded at 16:41 of the third period to force the extra five-minute period.

Coetzee connected twice for the Rebels while Brett Ferguson had a singe marker.

Dustin Sylvester had the other two Kootenay goals.

Kraymer Barnstable picked up the win in goal for the Rebels, finishing with 27 saves. Todd Mathews made 28 stops for the Ice.

The Rebels continue their five-game road trip Tuesday in Kamloops.
