The Red Deer Rebels have added a valuable piece to their rebuild.

Late Thursday night, the team announced they had acquired 17-year-old forward Ben King from the Swift Current Broncos.

Red Deer shipped Carter Saleski, Jordan Borysiuk, prospect Parker Lalonde, 15, and a third round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft to Swift Current.

King, a six-foot-two, 190-pound forward has been productive in his second season with the Broncos, recording four goals and four assists in 16 games. King was the leading scorer for Swift Current at the time of the trade, he had 54 shots on net and a 47 per cent faceoff percentage.

Last season, through 48 games he picked up five goals and 26 points. The Vernon, B.C. product is eligible for the 2020 NHL draft. He was originally a first round pick, 13th overall by the Broncos in 2017.

King will likely be in the lineup Friday when the Rebels take on the Saskatoon Blades in Saskatoon.
