The Red Deer Rebels looked unstoppable Saturday afternoon against the Calgary Hitmen.

After losing to their Central Division rival on Friday at the Peavey Mart Centrium the Rebels responded in a big way.

In a rare afternoon game at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Red Deer scored a fury of goals in the first two periods to blow out the Hitmen 9-0.

Rebels goaltender Kyle Kelsey was fantastic between the pipes making 25 saves for his third shutout of the year.

Three minutes into the first period forward Kai Uchacz scored his 49th goal of the season to get things started. Forward Jhett Larson fired in the next two goals at the midway point of the period, one of which was on the powerplay.

Approximately 30 seconds later, Craig Armstrong potted his 10th tally this campaign to send the Rebels into the first intermission up 4-0.

Larson notched his third of the game for his first hat trick this season just over a minute into the second period. Defenceman Mats Lindgren followed up with a goal of his own shortly after.

Later in the period captain Jayden Grubbe, Carson Birnie, and Hunter Mayo all scored to secure the victory for the Rebels.

Neither team scored in the third period but in total Red Deer had seven different goal scorers and converted on five out of seven powerplay opportunities.

Next up for the Rebels is a pair of home games next Friday and Saturday against the Swift Current Broncos at 7 p.m.
