SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — It would appear a long week on the road finally caught up with the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night as they were bucked 6-0 by the Swift Current Broncos to close out their Western Hockey League East swing.

After a scoreless first period, the Rebels fell apart in the middle frame as the Broncos fired home four goals — Michael Stickland, Cody Eakin, Justin Dowling, and Dillon Wagner. Dowling picked up the hat trick with two more goals in the third period, he finished with four points on the night.

Darcy Kuemper was given the hook after surrendering three goals on 18 shots, while back up Kraymer Barnstable fared no better, allowing three goals on 11 shots. Former Rebels netminder exacted some revenge on Red Deer stopping all 37 shots fired his way.

The Rebels finished the trip 2-2-0, with shootout wins in Moose Jaw and Regina, they also lost in Brandon.

The Rebels (30-21-0-4) return to action on Tuesday when they host Lethbridge (16-33-3-2) at 7 p.m.
