Rebels select pair of Colorado products WHL U.S. Prospects Draft

The Red Deer Rebels are hoping a pair of American players will become part of the long-term plan for the organization.

Wednesday, Red Deer drafted a forward and defenceman from Colorado in the WHL U.S. Prospects Draft. They picked forward Jeremiah Roberts of Monument Colorado with the 14th overall selection. In 46 games played in 2021-22 with the Colorado Rampage U14 AAA, the five-foot-11, 150-pound right-shot forward had 26 goals and 20 assists for 49 points, along with 82 penalty minutes.

With the 31st selection, Red Deer picked defenceman Quinten Flores of Arvada, Colorado. In 60 games played in 2021-22 with the Colorado Thunderbirds U14 AAA, the six-foot, 185-pound left-shot defenceman had 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points, along with 50 penalty minutes.

The 15-round WHL Prospects Draft starts Thursday morning at 9 a.m. and the first round will be streamed live at www.WHL.ca.
