The Red Deer Rebels have signed their second-round pick at the 2023 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft, Jake Missura.

On Tuesday they made it official inking the defenceman, who they selected 40th overall, to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

“He’s got a really good skill set and he could be probably the best open-ice hitter, or the most physical defenceman in the draft,” said Rebels Associate General Manager Shaun Sutter in a media release.

The Saskatoon native, who will turn 15 in June, is small in stature standing 5’8” and 150 pounds but so far in his career hasn’t let that stop him.

“He’s a big hitter and has that dynamic where he’s a hard guy to play against.”

Last season he notched 25 points and 100 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Saskatoon Bandits U15 AA.
