The Red Deer Rebels needed a win in the worst way.

After seven straight WHL losses, the Rebels met an opponent that offered them a chance for two points.

It took overtime, but the Rebels managed to snap out of the slump and pick up a 3-2 overtime win against the two-win Regina Pats in Regina.

Red Deer also got revenge, after they squandered a 4-1 advantage and lost in a shootout to the Pats earlier in the losing skid.

Just 48 seconds into overtime, Arshdeep Bains and Dawson Barteaux crossed up Regina netminder Max Paddock before Bains tucked in a wraparound to win the game.

Chase Leslie scored for the Rebels unassisted early in the second to open the scoring for the visitors.

Josh Tarzwell notched his sixth of the season with 2:23 left in the game, only to have the Pats tie it with 31 seconds left. It Austin Pratt, victimizing his former club once against with his eighth of goal the year.

Rebels goalie Byron Fancy was solid for the visitors, picking up his first win of the season. Max Paddock stopped 24 for Regina in the loss.

Red Deer continues the road trip Tuesday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings at 6 p.m. in Brandon.
