The Red Deer Rebels special teams struggled Saturday night and played a critical role in a 4-2 loss against Saskatoon.

Red Deer allowed two power play goals in the first 11 minutes of the game and trailed 3-0 before Austin Glover scored his 16th goal of the season at 14:22 of the opening frame.

The Blades finished the night 2/4 on the man-advantage while Red Deer was not clicking and didn’t score in six opportunities.

Evan Polei scored in the third to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Gage Ramsey scored three minutes and nine seconds later to close the scoring out for the Blades. Polei’s goal was his 25th of the season and fifth in his last five games.

Cameron Hausinger was ejected from the game midway through the third period when he received a five minute major for head checking.

Riley Lamb entered the game in relief of Lasse Petersen in the first period and made 20 saves on the night.

The Rebels return home Wednesday to take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
