The Red Deer Rebels made a push in the end but came up just short in Lethbridge losing 6-4.

After the Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead in the first period, Rebels forward Kai Uchacz scored his 50th of the season to cut the deficit in half.

However, just over a minute later the Hurricanes scored to extend their lead 3-1 in the third period.

Lethbridge built off their momentum in the second frame scoring two straight goals to take a 5-1 lead into the final period.

Red Deer didn’t go away quietly in the third scoring three consecutive goals by Talon Brigley, Craig Armstrong, and Jace Isley to bring themselves within a goal.

Red Deer pushed for the equalizer but Lethbridge scored the empty-netter with 32 seconds left in the game.

The Rebels failed to score on six powerplay opportunities and goaltender Chase Coward finished with 21 saves.

The two teams will be back in action on Saturday at the Peavey Mart Centrium for the final game of the regular season at 7 p.m.
