It’s the most wonderful time of the year and an annual junior hockey tradition is set to begin.

As the calendar officially flips to December, teams across Western Hockey League (WHL) are preparing to host their annual Teddy Bear Toss games.

Red Deer Rebels fans can save the date for the upcoming annual Togue and Teddy Bear Toss night at the Peavey Mart Centrium next week on Friday, Dec. 9 against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Western Hockey League made the announcement on Wednesday, along with dates for the 21 other franchises in the league preparing for the occasion.

Last year the Rebels hosted the Moose Jaw Warriors but were shutout 4-0. After the Warriors’ fourth goal, fans in the Centrium flooded the ice with an abundance of teddy bears and toques.
