The Red Deer Rebels fell to the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-2 on the road Friday night at the Enmax Centre.

The Rebels never held a lead in the game and it marked Red Deer’s first loss since interim head coach Dave Struch took over four games ago.

The Hurricanes took the lead with less than seven minutes to go in the first period scored by Leo Braillard but three minutes later Rebels Kai Uchacz found the equalizer on the powerplay.

In the final two minutes of the opening period, Hurricanes Landen Ward fired in a goal to retake the lead.

Rebels Talon Brigley scored the lone goal of the second period to tie the game 2-2 heading into the final frame.

However, in the third, the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals to secure the victory from Miguel Marques, Brayden Edwards, and an empty netter from Dylan Sydor.

The Rebels and Hurricanes will rematch on Saturday at the Peavey Mart Centrium at 7 p.m.
