Red Deer Bantam AAA Rebels open season with road win

The Bantam AAA Rebels kicked off the Alberta Bantam AAA Hockey League with a barn burner.

The Bantam AAA Rebels kicked off the Alberta Bantam AAA Hockey League with a barn burner.

In Calgary against the Northstars, Red Deer hung on for a 5-4 victory in their first game of the year.

Red Deer led 4-2 after 20 minutes, with goals from Chase Walker, Spencer Claerhout, Harrison Lodewyk and Ephram McNutt. Lodewyk tipped home the game-winner in the second period.

Marvy Fluet earned the win in net.

Red Deer will host the Southeast Tigers on Sept. 28 and travel to Calgary and take on the Bisons on Sept. 29.
