The Red Deer Bantam AAA Rebels needed some overtime heroics in the opener of their Alberta Major Bantam AAA Hockey League regional series.

The Red Deer Bantam AAA Rebels needed some overtime heroics in the opener of their Alberta Major Bantam AAA Hockey League regional series.

Chase Walker came through in the clutch, scoring on the power play with 3:09 left in the first overtime period to help his club earn a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames Friday night in the best-of-five series.

Rebels goalie Brock Lott was also huge in the victory, finishing with 42 saves.

Talon Brigley opened the scoring in the first for Red Deer before the Flames managed to find the equalizer late in the third. Emmett Barnett, Owen Callow, Brigley and Keith McInnis all had assists for Red Deer.

Game 2 of the series in Sunday in Calgary, before it shifts back to Servus Arena Monday at 7 p.m.
