Red Deer karate club wins five gold medals at provincial championship

A few Red Deer karate kids kicked their way to gold at a provincial championship last weekend.

The ISKF-Shotokan Karate Club of Red Deer won 17 medals at the 2018 Provincial Tournament Championship in Edmonton March 3.

The team won five gold medals; Mikayla Stewart in 10-year-old female orange kata and kumite, Aldric Jasmin in six-year-old male orange belt kata, Partho Ghosh in 10 male orange kata and Braydon Caljouw, Alec Jasmin and Aldric Jasmin in orange belt team kata.

The other Red Deer medal winners were Aiden Hunter, Mathieu Corbiere, Ryder Holyk, Marek Corbiere, Micah Pearson and Liam Crippen.
