The Red Deer Minor Basketball Association has hired Jedell Foster as their new executive director of fall programming.
Foster, who's the current head coach of the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings basketball team, will lead the way when the Fall Academy begins on Sept. 18.
At that time, the under-11 through to high school level age divisions will begin followed by the younger age divisions in October. They'll focus on skill development based on their age and Canada Basketball youth playing guidelines.
“I’m excited to work with Red Deer Minor Basketball and connect with the youth basketball community here in Red Deer,” said Foster in a media release.
“The club has a strong foundation, and being able to support and build youth ball here like I’ve been able to help do in Ontario is a real blessing.”
Before he got hired by the Kings last year, Foster was the head coach of the Fleming Knights men’s basketball team in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. The Ontario native also coached with the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League.
“Jedell is an excellent addition to our operations team and our programming. His experience in coaching and the energy he brings will be a driving force for new and exciting growth for our club," said club director Meagan Parisian.
"New partnerships and program offerings, including camps and clinics, will be forthcoming in the new year."
The Association explained that registration for the U11 to high school level camps is now closed but younger age divisions including those under nine, seven, and five are still open until Sept. 27.
