Red Deer Rebels fans excited for the return of hockey at the Centrium will not have to wait as the pre-season is set to begin in September.
The Western Hockey League (WHL) has announced the pre-season schedule as well as the regular season start date for the 2022-23 season.
Teams will drop the puck for the regular season on Friday, Sept. 23 after the pre-season concludes. The Rebels will play four games against Alberta teams before the regular season begins this fall.
Their first matchup of the pre-season will be against the Calgary Hitmen on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex in Calgary.
The next day on Sept. 10 the Hitmen will face the Rebels at the Peavey Mart Centrium at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 16 Red Deer will play the Lethbridge Hurricanes at 7 p.m. at the Enmax Centre and again on Sept. 17 in Red Deer at 7 p.m.
