The Red Deer Rebels are still searching for their first goal of the second round.

The Edmonton Oil Kings shut out the Rebels 5-0 in Game 2 of the Western Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal series at Rogers Place in Edmonton Saturday night. The Oil Kings beat Red Deer 4-0 in Game 1 this past Thursday.

Jaxsen Wiebe scored twice for the Oil Kings, while Dylan Guenther, Justin Sourdif and Jakub Demek added a goal apiece.

Oil Kings goaltender Sebastian Cossa stopped all 26 shots he faced. Cossa now has three shutouts in just six starts in the playoffs and has allowed just six goals overall. Rebels netminder Chase Coward, who has now started all eight games for the Rebels, made 34 saves on 39 shots.

Red Deer was unable to convert on seven power plays, while the Oil Kings converted on one of their five chances with the man advantage.

The Rebels haven’t scored a goal since Jayden Grubbe potted the series-winning triple-overtime marker against the Brandon Wheat Kings in Game 6 of the first round.

The next two games of the second-round matchup will be played at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer.

The Rebels host the Oil Kings for Game 3 on Monday night. Game 4 is set for Wednesday. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. for both games.
