Nate Yellowaga has signed a standard WHL player agreement with the Red Deer Rebels.

The Red Deer Rebels have added another important piece to their roster for the 2025-26 WHL season.

The team announced Monday that they had signed defenceman Nate Yellowaga.

Yellowaga, 17, was selected by the Rebels in round nine, 194th overall at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The defender, who played for the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL last year, is committed to playing for the Maine Black Bears in the NCAA in 2026-27.

The 2008-born rearguard played in 54 games with the Brooks Bandits (AJHL/BCHL) over the last two years, compiling 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists). The five-foot-11, 175-pound Calgary native added two assists in 17 playoff games.

Nate’s dad, Kevin Yellowaga, played in the Western Hockey League from 1985-89 with Brandon, Moose Jaw, and Saskatoon.
