Red Deer Rebels to play Edmonton Oil Kings in 2023-24 home opener

The Red Deer Rebels announced on Monday they’ll play the Edmonton Oil Kings in the 2023-24 home opener.

On Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. the Rebels will welcome their Central Division rivals to the Peavey Mart Centrium.

Just last year the Rebels played the Oil Kings in both the season and home opener, beating them 5-2 and 5-3 in September. Red Deer went on to win all nine regular-season games against the Oil Kings.

They also released their preseason schedule which included four games at the beginning of September.

Firstly, they’ll face off against the Calgary Hitmen at the Skisika First Nation on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. followed by a matchup with the Oil Kings at the Peavey Mart Centrium on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.

The following week the Hitmen will make the trip to Red Deer on Friday, Sept. 15 to take on the Rebels at 7 p.m. The next night, Red Deer will travel to Lethbridge on Saturday, Sept. 16 for a battle against the Hurricanes at 6 p.m.

The full regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday, June 26.
