The Red Deer Rebels are in the middle of preparing for the playoffs but with the drafts around the corner, the franchise got a glimpse into their future.

On Wednesday the Western Hockey League announced the draft order for both the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft and the U.S. Priority Draft.

In the Prospects Draft, which is set to take place on Thursday, May 11, the Rebels will select 18th overall in the first round and subsequent rounds after that.

The Prince Albert Raiders claimed the top two picks of the draft followed by the Spokane Chiefs, Victoria Royals, and the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Last season the Rebels selected defenceman Luke Vlooswyk 17th overall in the first round.

In the U.S. Priority Draft on Wednesday, May 10 the Rebels will get to pick 18th and 40th overall.

In 2022, the Rebels selected forward Jeramiah Roberts 14th overall and defenceman Quinten Flores 31st overall in the second round.
