Red Deer Rebels top Prince Albert Raiders

Red Deer Rebels forward Ben King just keeps finding the back of the net.

King scored his 38th and 39th goals of the Western Hockey League season, as the Rebels defeated the Prince Albert Raiders 3-2 at the Peavey Mart Centrium Friday night.

Prince Albert’s Sloan Stanick scored a power play goal just 3:34 into the game to put his team ahead early.

King scored his first of the game while the Rebels were on the power play 6:20 into the second period. This was is 18th power play tally of the year, which leads the league.

Landon Koslor put the Raiders back on top with a goal just a few minutes into the final period.

Rebels defenceman Kyle Masters scored with about four minutes remaining to tie the game at two.

King then scored again at 17:29 into the final frame to put the Rebels on top for good.

King leads the Western Hockey League with 39 goals while his linemate Arsheep Bains is second in the points race with 73. Bains assisted on both of King’s tallies Friday.

Goaltender Connor Ungar stopped 17 of 19 shots in Red Deer’s win, while Raiders netminder Max Hildebrand stopped 34 of 37.

The Rebels host the Regina Pats at the Peavey Mart Centrium Saturday night. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
