The Red Deer Rebels have traded their first overall selection from the 2020 WHL U.S. Prospects draft.

Red Deer selected Gracyn Sawchyn with that pick last March and Thursday, they moved the Minnesota product’s rights to the Seattle Thunderbirds, in exchange for a conditional second-round selection in the 2022 WHL Draft.

The 16-year-old centre had a productive 2020-21 season, producing 14 goals and 46 assists in 47 games at Shattuck St. Mary’s, a prep school in Minnesota.
