Red Deer Renegades advance in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League playoffs

The Red Deer Renegades and the Sylvan Lake Yetti both have a chance to capture the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League Junior B Tier II championship.

The Renegades, who finished fourth in the North East Division knocked off the Sherwood Park Titans in the best of three first round playoff series to advance, while the Yetti earned a bye for a first-place finish in league play.

Red Deer won 12-9 last Friday, before falling 12-11 Saturday. They edged out the Titans 14-13 on Sunday on home court to advance.

Riley Sitko and Shayden Brinton led the way with four goals each, Drew Barklay had a hat trick, while Derian Clark notched a pair and Ryder Graham also added a goal in the victory Sunday. Barklay and Brinton each had four goals in the loss Saturday, while Shae Lavoie, Clark and Brennan Duchscher also added a tally.

Sylvan Lake will play the Parkland Posse in the next round, while the Renegades will square off with the Lloydminster Xtreme. The winners of each series advance to the provincial final.
