The Red Deer Renegades fell to the Sylvan Lake Yetti 16-15 in a tight matchup on Saturday evening at the GH Dawe Community Centre.
It was a tough loss that had playoff implications on the line.
With two games to go for the Renegades in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League Jr. B Tier II regular season the Renegades and Yetti are now tied for third place in the standings.
Just one point back from second place and two points back from first every win and point is important if they want to finish on top of the league.
The top two teams will receive byes into the second round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, teams three through six will face off in round one for a beat-three series set to begin in two weeks.
The Renegades final two games of the regular season are set to wrap up next weekend against the Lakeland Heat on the road on Saturday and the Lloydminster Xtreme on Sunday, July 14 at 1 p.m. also on the road.
In Tier I Jr. B action, the Renegades are in a playoff spot but could be on the verge of missing the postseason. The Rampage fell 12-11 to the Mountain View Mavericks on Friday night in Innisfail which kept them in third place in the Central Division with an 8-9 record.
The Calgary Chill, who have a 7-9 record in fourth place are just one point behind the Rampage for the final playoff spot. With three games left, including one on Sunday, July 7 at home against the Silvertips, the Rampage will fight to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The top three teams from each division will make the playoffs with the top team getting a bye to the second round. If the Rampage can hold on they'll play the second-seeded Silvertips in the first round that are set to begin on Thursday, July 18.
