The Red Deer Riggers’ comeback effort in the Sunburst Baseball League final fell just short.
The Edmonton Cubs punched their ticket to the 2022 Senior National Championships in Sydney, Nova Scotia, after defeating the Riggers 6-2 Friday night.
Red Deer was trailing the series 2-0, before winning two straight to send the series to a fifth and deciding game.
Tony Olson pitched a complete game for the Cubs as the team won its second straight league championship.
Red Deer last won the league title in 2017.
