Red Deer Riggers improve to 3-1

The bats were certainly working for the Red Deer Riggers Tuesday night at Gulls Stadium.

The Riggers put up a four-spot in the second inning, followed by three more runs in the third on the way to a 10-3 victory over the Edmonton Cubs.

Cooper Jones led the way for the Riggers with three hits and five RBI. Corbyn Shields hit two solo home runs, while Jaret Chatwood knocked in a pair of runs and Mason Love-Hollman chipped in three hits.

Josh Edwards pitched four innings, striking out two with just one walk and no earned runs.

Joel Peterman allowed two runs in one inning of work, while Luis Gallardo and Kai Poffenroth each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game.

Blake Davis had three hits for the Cubs, while Josh Fisher had two hits, including a home run. Jarvis Greiner started on the mound for Edmonton and Russ Rockwell closed out the night.

The Riggers will take their 3-1 record on the road Friday when they travel to St. Albert to take on the Tigers. They will return home on May 30 at Great Chief Park when they host the Calgary Rockies.
