Red Deer Riggers lose second straight game

Riggers are back in action on Thursday

The Red Deer Riggers have lost their second straight game losing to the Calgary Rockies 8-1 in Sunburst League action.

The Rockies scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fifth off Riggers starting pitcher Reese DeRuyter.

Meanwhile, the Riggers only scored one run that came in the first inning. Red Deer only managed to get four hits in the loss two of which came from catcher Jaret Chatwood.

After a pitching change, Calgary kept their foot on the gas pedal knocking in three in the sixth inning. This was followed by a pair of runs later in the game off pitcher Kai Poffenroth.

The Riggers also struggled on Monday losing 10-4 to the Sherwood Park A’s on the road. However, despite the back-to-back losses the Riggers are 4-3 so far this season

Red Deer’s next game will be on Thursday, June 1 in Edmonton against the Cubs.
