After losing to the St. Albert Tigers last Friday, the Red Deer Riggers split a pair of games this week in Sunburst League action.

On June 27 the Riggers were in Edmonton to take on the Padres at Wally Footz Field where they came away with the win on the road. Josh Edwards knocked out his second home run of the season and Dustin Northcott threw five scoreless innings.

Tuesday, the Riggers were back home at Pogadl Park in Sylvan Lake against the Sherwood Park Athletics and lost 8-2.

The Riggers were held to just three hits and Austin Hammond had the team’s lone RBI of the game. Rees DeRuyter got the start on the mound pitching four innings striking out five and allowing two runs. Adam Turgeon and Jay Kirkham also both pitched in relief. Turgeon struck out one and allowed five runs in one inning pitched. Kirkham allowed one run and struck out one batter in two innings of work.

The Riggers have one more game in an already busy week heading to Sherwood Park on June 30 to take on the Athletics at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Park.
