The Red Deer Riggers won their second consecutive game on Tuesday.

Overall the Riggers were outhit 13-6 but Red Deer’s Josh Edwards and Corbyn Shields led the way in the batter’s box for the home team with a combined five runs batted in.

Starting pitcher Rees DeRuyter pitched four innings and struck out five batters before Joel Peterman came in relief for the fifth inning.

Peterman allowed no hits in one inning of work followed by an inning by Luis Gallardo who allowed four hits and a run. Dustin Northcott closed the game to seal the deal for Red Deer.

Through the first three innings, the Riggers held a 5-4 lead following a massive four-run second inning. Red Deer added four more runs in the fourth inning as the final dagger. The Rockies would add two more runs but couldn’t solve the Riggers pitching staff in the final innings.

With the win, the Riggers improve to 6-3 on the year and sit on top of the south division of the senior AAA Sunburst League.
