Those itching to get back to the baseball field to watch a Red Deer Riggers game won’t have to wait much longer.
The Senior AAA Sunburst League released their schedule with opening day set to take place on May 8.
The Riggers will open the season against the Sherwood Park A’s at Centennial Park on the road. Their home opener takes place the following day on Tuesday, May 9 against the St. Albert Tigers at 7:30 p.m. in Sylvan Lake.
In addition, the Red Deer’s annual Riggers Tournament will be played from July 21-23 on the weekend at Great Chief Park.
This season the Sunburst League will introduce two new teams from Calgary, the Diamondbacks and the Rockies. They’ll play in the South Division along with the Riggers.
Playoffs will begin on July 31 and the finals are set to begin on Aug. 8, 2023.
The Riggers are set for an exciting season that includes hosting the 2023 Canadian Senior AAA baseball championships on Aug. 24-27 at Great Chief Park in Red Deer
