The Red Deer Ringette Association is calling on all kids aged four to 16 to give the sport a try this weekend.

On Sunday, April 28 they’re hosting a Come Try It event at Servus Arena in hopes of increasing interest in ringette.

Children aged four-10 are scheduled first at 3 p.m. followed by those aged 11-16 at 4:15 p.m. Those attending are asked to arrive at Servus Arena 30 minutes before the event for registration and a short introduction.

“We are excited to once again offer this free opportunity to children and youth in central Alberta,” said Chris Weiss, community engagement coordinator for Red Deer Ringette in a media release.

“Come Try It events allow kids to try the game without any commitment. Any skill level is welcome and if you are feeling nervous, we encourage you to bring a friend along.”

There will be experienced coaches and players at the event to help provide instruction and information to the children and their families.

The association will provide sticks and rings but the players must bring their helmets and skates.
