Red Deer’s Rebecca Smith will wear the maple leaf once again this summer.

Smith, 22, was one of 32 swimmers named to Team Canada for the upcoming FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary from June 18-July 3.

The University of Calgary Dinos swimmer will also race at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England from July 28- Aug. 8.

At the Canadian Swimming Trials over the weekend in Victoria, B.C., Smith finished third in the 100 metre butterfly in a time of 58.76 seconds. She was fifth in the 100m final, with a time of 55.34 seconds and sixth in the 200m final in 1:58.48.

“Trials are always exciting and seeing the performances through the week shows the athletes are in a great position leading into the summer championships, to work with their coaches to build and improve at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games,” said Swimming Canada High Performance Director and National Coach John Atkinson.
