Red Deer Titans medal at Indoor Track and Field Provincials

Members of the Red Deer Titans had a strong showing on the weekend at the 2019 Alberta Indoor Track and Field Championships in Edmonton.

Members of the Red Deer Titans had a strong showing on the weekend at the 2019 Alberta Indoor Track and Field Championships in Edmonton.

Overall, the team brought home nine medals, with nine-year-old Jayda Poelzer collecting four. She earned gold in the U10 Girls 50m sprint, as well as silver in the medicine ball throw and the U10 60m race (10.33 seconds). She also won bronze in the standing long jump at 1.63 metres.

Jared Howse, 17, had a strong showing with a pair of gold medal victories. He won the U20 3000m race in a time of 9:12.17 and on Sunday finished first in the U18 1500m in 4:12.99.

Lane Fox, 15, won gold in the U16 triple jump with a lead of 10.70m.

Sprinter Jeremiah Lauzon, 19, earned bronze in the U20 300m race in a time of 35.68. He finished just off the podium in the U20 60m race in fourth at 7.07, one-hundredths of a second behind Ramone English who was third.

Grace Wright won the medicine ball throw with a toss of 3.37m and she finished fifth in the U10 girls 400m race as well as U10 50m.
