Red Deer Titans women sting Calgary Hornets

The Red Deer Titans, with Kayla Ormond scoring three tries, downed the host Calgary Hornets 29-12 in Calgary Rrugby Union women’s action Saturday.

Melissa Wyntjes and Chelsey Clifford each scored a try for the Titans, who improved to 1-2 on the season. Anita LaRose had two conversions.

In men’s first division play, the Titans fell 18-11 to the Calgary Canucks. In addition, the Canucks were 19-10 winners over the third division Titans.

Andrew Herbert recorded a try for the first division Titans, who also got two penalty goals from Wade Moore while falling to 2-3.

The third division Titans, 2-2-1, got tries from Steven Holmes and James Neuman.

The Red Deer squads return to action this Saturday at Titans Park, with the third division men meeting the Okotoks Lions at noon, the first division men taking on the Edmonton Lep-Tigers at 1 p.m. and the women going against Banff at 3 p.m.
