Red Deer Vipers forward Justin Paarup had a big weekend before Christmas in Heritage Junior B Hockey League play.

The 20-year-old forward helped his club to a 3-0 record to round at the first half, notching five points in the three victories.

In a 7-4 win over Stettler Friday, Paarup scored once and added a pair of helpers. In a 4-0 shutout over the Sylvan Lake Wranglers, he added another assist and capped off the week with another assist in a 4-2 win over the Rocky Mountain House Rams.

Chandler Aleman of the Medicine Hat Cubs was the first star and Carter Layden was the third star.

Paarup is having a productive third season with his hometown club, recording 10 goals and 22 assists through 19 games this year.

The five-foot-seven, 170-pound forward has helped the Vipers to a 16-9-0 record this year, including six straight wins.

Red Deer will next hit the ice on Jan. 3, when they travel to Airdrie to take on the Thunder. On Jan. 4, they will host the Lomond Lakers.
