Red Deer Vipers trail Generals in HJHL North Division final

The Red Deer Vipers have an uphill battle ahead of them in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League playoffs.

The Vipers face a 2-1 deficit in their best-of-seven North Division final after it got underway over the weekend.

Cochrane opened with a 5-4 series win last week before the Vipers countered Saturday with a 5-3 win on home ice. Sunday, in Cochrane the Generals earned a 5-0 shutout win.

In Saturday’s victory, Jace Paarup, Kyle Wallace, Brandon Pelletier and Austin Gallant had goals for the Vipers. Red Deer led 4-2 after 40 minutes and Kobe Karol added a third-period tally. Karol also had two assists on the night, while Bretton Park made 37 saves to earn the victory for the Vipers.

Game 4 is Tuesday at Servus Arena, with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
