The Enmax Centrium will host international junior hockey action next month.

A pair of exhibition games preceding the world junior hockey championship in Calgary and Edmonton will be played at the Centrium, with Team USA facing Team Russia on Dec. 20 and the Canadian national junior squad taking on Switzerland on Dec. 22.

“As the host committee, our goal was to make sure the whole province is involved in this event, not just Calgary and Edmonton,” said Al Coates, executive director of the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship which runs Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

Pre-tournament games will be played in eight other Alberta communities, including Olds (Sweden vs. Denmark on Dec. 20) and Three Hills (USA vs. Slovakia on Dec. 23).

“We’re excited these communities will have the opportunity to show the teams what Alberta is all about,” said Coates.

Red Deer Rebels season-ticker holders will have the first option on seats for the two games at the Centrium at a package price of $60 plus TicketMaster surcharge.

Tickets will be available to the general public on Nov. 28 at a package price of $70 plus surcharge.
