In a field of 84 elite junior golfers, Red Deer’s Cole Bergheim was top of the class this week at a Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event.

Bergheim, 15, had three stellar rounds to win the juvenile boys title by five shots and take home the low overall win as well. The Red Deer product shot rounds of 72, 71, and 69 to earn the victory at McKenzie Meadows Golf Club in Calgary.

“It feels good to get this win as I haven’t won an event in a while. The highlight of this tournament was shooting three-under par on the last day to win,” said Bergheim in an MJT press release.

Sylvan Lake’s Logan Graf, 15, was juvenile boys runner-up with a three-round total of 217.

Red Deer County product Alex Gerrard finished ninth in the category and Joe Kelly was 15th.

In the collegiate category, Logan Crawford was sixth with a three-round score of 243.
