Red Deer’s Eileen Park has added another win to her resume on Thursday defending her crown at the Alberta U19 Championship.
The 14-year-old climbed up the leaderboard on the tournaments final day shooting a Turner Valley Golf Club course record four under par 68 to win back to back Alberta U19 Girls Championships. Her historic round helped her finish at even par through the three-day event.
Park shot even par on day one followed by a four over par performance on Wednesday which placed her two strokes behind the leader. However, Park raised her game on Thursday and birdied four of the last five holes to come out on top over Medicine Hat’s Sarah Armstrong.
“It feels really good,” Park said in an interview with Alberta Golf.
“I was two shots back after the second round and then fired four under on the back nine which made me feel like I was going to win. I’m really proud of myself.”
Park explained the course record is her first in her young career.
