It was a beautiful day for golf at Alberta Springs on the final day for the Alberta U13, U15, and U17 Championships.

Beginning on Monday hundreds of golfers from across the province took part in the tournament to win their age division.

Red Deer’s Eileen Park played well beyond her years and dominated the tournament winning by 12 strokes at nine under par in the Girls U15 Championship.

The 13-year-old said she was happy with how she played the last two days.

“I think my game was pretty solid I had eagles on both days,” Park explained.

Park’s eagles came on holes 18 and three when she chipped both of them in from distance, which she said doesn’t happen very often.

Park’s favourite part about golfing at her age is playing with and meeting new people but has shown incredible skill at such a young age. In July Park won the Alberta U19 Championship also by 12 strokes and last week won the Red Deer Golf and Country Club’s Junior Girls Championship.

“I think my game has been solid and I’m hoping to play better next year,” she added.

In the Alberta Boys U15 Championship, Innisfail’s Brae Rogalczyk went toe to toe with Edmonton’s Peter Hlushak in a seven-hole playoff to decide the champion.

There were multiple times when it seemed one had the upper hand on the other but both played fantastic golf in a very tense round. In the seventh playoff hole, Rogalczyk hit his tee shot into the bushes and took a stroke penalty. This gave Hlushak the upper hand and after Rogalczyk hit a long putt to save bogey, Hlushak knocked his ball in for par to take the championship at six under par.

Rogalczyk said overall it was a great match and gave credit to his opponent for the round he played.

“It was a good playoff. He played great,” he said. “It was stressful for sure. It was crazy being a part of that and was really cool to be a part of that it’s fun.”

In the Alberta Boys U13 Championship Chase Strang won shooting one over par, which was one stroke ahead of Red Deer’s Bennett Love at two over par.

Clara Ding took home the Alberta Girls U17 Championship at two over par ahead of Aastha Savadatti in a playoff round. Graysen Collins won the Boys U17 Championship after shooting seven under par and Aleah Shields-Rodipe took home the Girls U13 Championship.
