Red Deer’s Eileen Park is red hot this summer.

The 11-year-old picked up her second win of the season Sunday on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour. Park won earlier this summer on the MJT junior tour at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort and turned it up a notch in the mini-tour event, edging the field in the girls 11-12 age division.

At Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary, she made seven birdies to shoot a three-under 59, 13 strokes better than Kali Yeske of Calgary.

“My strategy was to have a great short game,” said Park after the win.

Several other Red Deer locals had strong finishes, including Bennett Love who captured second place in the boys 9-10 division. Love shot an even-par 62, four strokes back of Jayden Arnold of Calgary. Serin Girard of Red Deer was third in the girls 9-10 division, she shot a 69 and Raylee Denton, also from Red Deer finished with a 79.

The next 12U event is July 20 in Lethbridge, at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort in Lethbridge. The MJT will also be in Sylvan Lake on July 27 and 28 in Olds on Aug. 10 and 11.
