Red Deer’s Eileen Park wins MJT Mini Tour event

Some fine shooting by Eileen Park produced a well-earned victory on the weekend.

Park, 9, won the Girls 9-10 Division at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour Mini Tour event in Calgary on Sunday at Douglasdale Golf and Country Club.

The Red Deer product shot a 79 to win the division by five shots over Ellie Johnson of Edmonton.

“I’m very proud of my win,” said Park in an MJT press release. “It gives me a lot of confidence for my game and I’m looking forward to playing more events.”

Serin Girard, also of Red Deer finished fourth in the category with a score of 96.

In the eight and under boys category, Red Deer’s Bennett Love shot 84 and finished just behind Jayden Arnold of Calgary.

Innisfail product Brae Rogalczyk was sixth in the boys 11-12 age group and Red Deer’s Kane Gerrard finished 12.

The next MJT Mini Tour event is set for Red Deer at River Bend Golf and Recreation Area on June 8.
